Entry One

I’m looking forward to the next 13 months. I have a few goals— including keeping up with this blog. But let’s begin at the beginning.

Why “kokocort”?

The confluence of a baby boomer and AOL. My mom chose this name for me back when America Online was still blanketing the country in free trial CDs. “Koko” as a misspelling of “cocoa” because chocolate was my favorite sweet at the time. She chose “Cort” for “Courtney”. I kept it ever since then.

So, what’s next?

This journey started when I went to AfroTech. When I came back I realized I was bored and didn’t have anything to focus on. So, I did some evaluating and decided to cut back on social media and make some plans for next year.

• practice piano

• payoff credit cards

• become fluent in Spanish

• write about myself more

• take more photos

• cook more

• lift heavy

But a dream without a plan is just a dream. So, my plan is multilayered and dynamic. These tasks will be pursued on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Part of the goal is to give myself plenty to do and part of the goal is to track it all. I’ve been working on the logistics for the last several weeks and it’s been fun! I’m excited to keep going.
